In a 'historically condensed' medieval Hidden City, the emperor is on his deathbed. The scheduled banquet must go ahead anyway, or risk breach of etiquette, which is tantamount to suicide. This is likely be the last chance for people to secure their place in the fraternal inheritance structure, or their position in the court under the next emperor, or to take advantage of the state of relative uncertainty to advance their agendas. Assassination within the bounds of proper etiquette is likely (but should not remove (many) players from the game as they'll die later). Devious plots, not-so-devious plots, mysticism and herbology, political agendas, and personal vindictiveness abound. Everyone is a target for someone, if only pre-emptively.
